Mr India 2: Shekhar Kapur Hints At Legal Action Against Makers; Questions, ‘Who Does Authorship Of A Film Legally Belong To?’
Just recently, Anil Kapoor’s daughter Sonam Kapoor had expressed her disappointment over the announcement of Ali Abbas Zafar’s Mr. India trilogy. She was upset and thought it was disrespectful and underhanded that no one consulted her father Anil Kapoor or the original director Shekhar Kapur. Shekhar Kapur also expressed his disappointment on social media confirming that no one even mentioned about the film called Mr. India 2, and said that the makers cannot use the story without permission from the original creators of the film.

Now, looks like the makers of Mr. India 2 could get in some trouble, as Shekhar Kapur has hinted at taking legal action against the makers in his recent tweets. It was on Saturday that filmmaker Kunal Kohli took to Twitter and wrote, “Javed Akhtar won a hard fought battle for the rights of lyricists and writers. Its time we did the same?" Shakhar Kapur replied with, “Yes. It’s time to test this legally .. let’s do it ..”, hinting at legal action.

Shekhar Kapur’s latest tweet also hints at the same. Just a little while ago, he tweeted, “Who does the authorship of a film legally belong to? Many nations by law consider the principal Director of the film to be the author. Here, for example, is the law the governs authorship of film in all of EU nations.”

Announcing the remake of Mr. India, Ali Abbas Zafar had tweeted "Excited to partner with @ZeeStudios_ for an epic trilogy #MrIndia! It is a huge responsibility to carry forward an iconic character loved by everyone. Currently, working on the script, no actor has been locked till now. Once we lock the first draft of the script, casting begins!"
